Welcome to Alcove Architecture, a RIBA chartered architectural practice located in the heart of Worthing, Sussex. Established in 2013, we have been providing architectural services to a range of clients for over a decade.
From humble beginnings (in the alcove), the practice has grown from strength to strength and has established itself as one of the top-rated registered architects thanks to our excellent reputation, and affiliation with the RIBA.
A significant proportion of our commissions come via recommendation or repeat clients, and as a result we are thrilled with this confirmation that we have met (and often exceeded) our clients expectations so much that they are happy to recommend or come back to us with future projects.
“Alcove Architecture gave us great design ideas and enabled us to make the best of the space we have. It has completely transformed our house and the way we live.” Clair & Dave

We've recently collected some feedback from our residential clients on projects completed over the past year and we're really pleased with what they had to say.
– 100% very satisfied with the overall design
– 100% said the design met their needs and aspirations
– 100% would recommend Alcove Architecture
Thank you to all our clients for the feedback and for trusting us with your homes.

A site update from our historically sensitive project in Harrow which is approaching completion! The project comprises new-build residential units for the elderly and less-able as well as the refurbishment of a listed cottage, shown here. The external landscaping is also looking great and has been carefully designed to enable the residents to access and enjoy all areas of the gardens.

We are pleased to have secured planning permission for this single storey rear extension to a terraced house in Worthing!
The extension will provide a generous and social kitchen area to this family home, with internal remodelling to add a downstairs WC and utility area. Curated views within the house lead the eye out to the garden.
A self-build project for the owners, construction methods and materials have been selected to facilitate DIY where possible, with clay tile hanging and timber cladding to provide a natural and crafted feeling when viewed from the garden. The building form has been designed to be sympathetic to the adjacent neighbours with a low eaves height along the boundary and a green roof to soften the appearance.

Completed project! At some point in the midst of this January weather, we got lucky and timed this visit with a sunny morning in Surrey!
The design aimed to preserve and enhance the traditional character of the house whilst giving the owners a much improved kitchen/utility/dining space internally at ground floor, and extended bedrooms and new bathroom at first floor.
Can you tell what is new and what is original?

Site progress! Our project at a private home in Haslemere is progressing at pace. The design comprises a three-storey extension and extensive remodelling of the existing house, to create a beautiful family home in it's extensive landscaped setting. The design is therefore sympathetic to the traditional character of the house whilst conveying a grandeur of scale to connect with the gardens.

Another application approved! We have successfully obtained planning consent for a single storey rear extension and internal remodelling at this exciting home in central Worthing. Formerly a garage with residential flat above, the current owner had previously transformed the building into a dwelling and now wished to improve upon this. The design extends and reorientates the open plan ground floor kitchen/living area to provide more space and an enhanced relationship with the rear garden.

Slightly overdue but we managed to sneak our summer do in just before the weather turned! Starting with a lego architecture build (an office tradition) followed by drinks at The Foresters Micropub, a meal @perchonthepier and on to quiz night @newamsterdamworthing where one of our team won card bingo! Good times.

Busy in the office today... our student from @chi_college is still with us despite being on her summer break. We love the dedication - she is getting involved in some real life projects, including submitting her first householder planning application. She is eager to ask questions and understand why we do things a certain way, and it feels great for us to share knowledge and support the next generation.

Some good news for the weekend! We have successfully obtained planning consent for this infill extension to an H-form house in Findon Valley. The extension makes use of an under-used area to greatly improve the layout of the existing home and provides 2 double bedrooms, utility room and new entrance atrium.

Feedback from clients gives us valuable insight into how successfully our design met their needs and aspirations, and how we might improve on future projects.
Receiving positive feedback like this makes our day! Ian and Jo wanted to make better use of the existing roof space to their home in Brighton. We designed a hip-to-gable extension and rear dormer to create 2 generous bedrooms, a study, dressing room and en-suite.
